COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS SHOW IS NOV 2, 2016 — MAKE PLANS FOR THIS NOW

Consider “hosting” the broadcast by running :30s of your morning show as the first and last spot in the local breaks. Or do live :30s if you can. Host a half-hour show prior to and/or after the awards, buying the block and selling the time yourself; or let TV sell it and do your production free. Host viewing party with prizes for those that pick the winners. (Awards)

YOU’RE IN THE FRONT ROW (OF THE BALCONY…)

Still time to send listeners to Nashville to see the show. Contact JD Haas http://www.jdhe.com/ and mention you are an A&O&B client. (Awards)

WATCH TONIGHT, WIN TOMORROW

Encourage listeners to watch the show then tune in the next morning. Every time they hear a song from the Entertainer of the Year perform, they call in to win. (Awards)

CAPTURE THE VOTE

The morning of the show, have listeners vote for who they think will win each award (vote on a new category each half-hour). “Seal” until the morning after the show. Each half-ho open a new envelope comparing who won vs. who listeners voted for. After each revelation, declare the listeners’ choice the correct one and play a song appropriate for their selection. Also accept votes on website, getting permission to e-mail back the listeners’ choice vs. the CMA’s choice.

Alternately, distribute printed (or website) ballots listing all nominees. Listeners vote and e-mail, fax or mail info to station. Most correct predictions wins prize. Good sponsor tie-ins and data base builder. (Awards)

COMPETITOR HAS CMA AWARDS SHOW AND YOU DON’T?

Air promo like, “Can’t watch the CMA Awards Show on TV tonight? Then tune in KXXX. All night we’ll tell you who won what as it happens – you’ll enjoy the excitement (applause under) of who wins without the agony of sitting through this…  (‘uh, I’d like to thank my first grade teacher, my dog…’). All the stars! All the music! All the winners! All without a single acceptance speech! All right here on KXXX!” (Awards)
