MAKING THE GRADE

Sell this feel good promotion to a large client. The client donates $5 for every “A” this year’s Senior Class at select high schools earns (you’ll probably want to set a maximum amount). The donation can go to St. Jude’s if you’re a St. Jude station, or to something local, or you can look for a product-related tie-in; for example a water supply company might put the donations toward digging a fresh water well in an impoverished country. “Save the World” is very on-trend. Pitch a healthy snack distributor/seller to treat each school bus riders to one of their packaged granola bars, etc. Pick a different bus each day for the run of the month-long promotion. Contact schools to gauge their interest then organize a group of locals who are experts at interesting things and can speak about them at schools. Possible participants: Advertising Executive who can speak about today vs. the Mad Men era and TV show; a professional photographer who talks about taking cell phone pictures and how you can make them more interesting using freeware; a large company’s HR person who shares insights for job seekers.
